OpenGL is a portable language for rendering three-dimensional (3-D) graphics. OpenGL does not understand Microsoft Windows device-Independent bitmaps (DIBs); instead, it has its own format for representing images. This article explains how to translate a Windows DIB into a format usable with OpenGL.
