Since May 2012, it had been equipped with Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" for non-Snapdragon based variants. It originally used Android 2.3 "Gingerbread". The standard Android user interface is overlaid with Samsung's TouchWiz interface, which includes support for the device's stylus, among other features. All operating system updates are performed via the supplied Samsung Kies software and not via the Android's native update menu.
