It was originally developed to replicate the functionality of the 16-bit AAPLAY.DLL flic-playing DLL which was provided by AutoDesk Inc., and now offers a number of extensions to the original system. The control uses a Combination of Device Independent Bitmaps (DIBs), ImageLists, dynamic arrays, streams, bit-level manipulation and multi-threading for optimal performance.
