Hurricane Hunter is the only app that allows you to actually follow the world famous "Hurricane Hunters" as they fly their missions into hurricanes and tropical storms. These men and women from the USAFR and NOAA fly directly into and through these weather systems to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

Available features which enhance the usability of the app are as follows:

Alerts:
Announce the availability of new or updated information with respect to aircraft launches, storm movement, satellite overlays, and bulletins.

Selectable Overlays:
Aircraft Recon: Gives the user a way to display the aircraft position and track. When a dropsonde (instrument that measures intensity and meteorological data) is released from the airplane, an icon is displayed which provides real-time storm data. Read the vortex messages that are generated by the on-board meteorologist. All of these icons can be tapped which will provide more detailed information.

Computer Model Tracks: When selected and displayed on the map, these icons show precise storm location and predictive storm movement. Tapping on these icons allow access to more information.

Satellite Imagery: Allows one to select between IR and water vapor displays.
All these overlays can be selected and displayed on the map individually or simultaneously.

These documents come directly from the National Hurricane Center located in Miami, FL and include:
Public Advisories
Forecast Advisories
Tropical Weather Outlooks
5 day projected movement and wind speed probability graphics

Prep List:
Integrated check list for hurricane preparation. This allows the user to create and maintain a usable supply kit, and serves as a reminder of what to do and expect before, during and after a hurricane.

In the information (i) folder, the user is able to customize connection preferences to receive automatic updates overlay and bulletin refresh rates. Additionally, you can select:

Plan of the Day (POD): This document is generated daily by the National Hurricane Center (who tasks the Hurricane Hunters) so you will know in advance when a plane is launching on a reconnaissance mission and be able to follow along with the most up-to-date information.

Hurricane Info: Gives a graphical depiction of the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Legend: Explains what each icon represents and how to most effectively utilize this app.

Facebook: Link to our facebook page and stay up to date with what the men and women of the Hurricane Hunters are up to, current mission updates, personal comments, and latest pictures and videos of the storms. This is also a great place to meet and converse with other weather enthusiasts.
