Apple release multi-model model Ferret-UI, partial cell phone UI mission beyond GPT-4V
The birth of the big model, which led tech giants and entrepreneurs to shoot again in a new round of competitions, and the rise of entrepreneurial stars such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral prove that there is no absolute advantage in the big factory under the influence of new technologies. Not long ago, apples shut down the launch of a multi-billion-dollar auto-drive project, with more than 600 people down at United States headquarters, and nearly 2,000 staff transferred to the AI sector.
However, among the dominant smartphone brands in the current market, apples are almost the only producers that have not officially launched a large model. Apples that have long been in the lead sheep position seem to be lagging very far behind in the big model. On 8 April, Apple published a new job called “Ferret-UI”, a multi-model model that can “read and understand” mobile phone screens and can perform tasks, custom-made to enhance understanding of mobile UI screens, equipped with references, positioning and reasoning functions.
Six months ago, Ferret, a multimodular model co-published by the Apple and Columbia University’s research team, had high graphic relevance, while Ferret-UI was more focused on mobile ends and user interaction. The research team found that Ferret-UI had the ability to address the understanding of user interfaces (UI) screens that were lacking in most of the existing universal multimodule models and interact effectively with them.
